You may have to pay tax on your pension depending on your income.

At the end of this tool, you’ll get an estimate showing:

  • whether you need to pay tax on your pension
  • how much tax you may need to pay this year
  • having the standard Personal Allowance of £12,570 (the amount you can earn before you have to pay tax)
  • starting to get your State Pension after 5 April 2010

    • The tool will estimate your tax for this tax year (6 April to 5 April).

  • what types of pensions you’ll get (for example, State Pension or private pension)
  • how much State Pension you’ll get — you can use your annual, weekly or 4-weekly amount
  • the amount of any other taxable income you’ll get (for example, from employment or income from savings interest)
