Statement

The Security Council will meet at 3 p.m. today on the Middle East amid growing concern over the Houthis’ advance along Yemen’s Red Sea coast. The group seized the port of Mokha and Mayyun Island last week and reportedly moved onto the Greater and Lesser Hanish islands, tightening its grip on the Bab el-Mandeb strait, which carries about 8.7 per cent of global seaborne trade.
