The advanced nuclear sector has the potential to play an important part in the UK’s energy security, building on our existing economic strengths and competitive advantages in nuclear whilst shaping new advanced nuclear markets and contributing to net zero.

The department is assessing Last Energy UK’s GDA Entry application in accordance with the GDA Entry Guidance.

High Temperature Gas Reactors (HTGRs) confirmed as the technology of focus for the AMR demonstration programme and up to £210 million announced for Rolls-Royce SMR.

We are opening the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) to Advanced Nuclear Technologies. Guidance on how to apply has been published.
