August 2025: Changes to latitude / longitude coordinates

We’ve recently upgraded our fixed monitor network to enhance performance and reliability.

A key improvement is the increased accuracy of monitor location data. As a result, the latitude and longitude coordinates for many monitors listed in the monthly report have been updated in the August 2025 summary.

All other monitoring data remains unchanged.

This data is received from fixed and mobile gamma radiation dose rate monitors and measures the ambient (or background) gamma radiation dose rate across the UK on an hourly basis.

From September 2022 onwards, dose rates are being made available from the Radiological Response and Emergency Management System (RREMS).
