MCA approved training providers (ATP)

How to find MCA approved training providers for STCW short course and ancillary training. This page is updated monthly.

The MCA accepts some STCW short courses from other maritime administrations. For more information, please see sections 4 and 5 of MIN 643.

We do not accept any online courses where there is a requirement for face-to-face practical training in the STCW Code

OneOcean is the MCA’s provider for the online ‘Prevention and Response to Violence & Harassment’ module referenced in MGN 718.

If you need Updating Yacht-Restricted PSCRB, centres who are approved for Updating PSCRB can also issue this certificate.

Mandatory training courses under the Workboat Code Edition 3 can be found on page number 218 of the Code.

1). Does the training provider state the course is MCA approved?

If not, it is unlikely to be approved by the MCA. You should instead find out which administration approved this (by checking the course web page or by contacting the training provider) and check whether we can accept/recognise the course.

2). Could the company you found be acting as an intermediary?

The company advertising MCA approved courses may not be the provider delivering the training but are instead acting as a commercial partner. In most cases, the course web page will tell you who the actual training provider is.
