Imported from official source

One-stop shop for academics and industry experts to engage with government science systems.

This page highlights the various opportunities available for academics, industry professionals and scientific experts to get involved and share their expertise with government.

There is information for people at all stages of their career depending on their experience and expertise. There are also different routes depending on, for example, time commitment, ensuring that there is something available for everyone.

The opportunities available extend from Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) apprenticeships right through to Scientific Advisory Committees and Councils (SACs).

Section about the newly published Academic Engagement Toolkit added.

Added a case study about Professor Oliver Hauser’s experience of applying academic expertise through a government secondment, to provide an example of academic engagement in practice.

A link to the “Working with government: opportunities for scientists and engineers” platform has been added to the Government careers section to provide practical guidance and case studies on working in, or with, government.

Added two new academic case studies to the ‘Advisory groups and networks of experts’ and one new case study to the ‘Government careers’ sections.

A new section on proactive outreach and networks has been added. Four case studies illustrating academic engagement have also been added to provide examples for ARI's, proactive outreach and networks and UKRI Policy Fellowships. Content across the page has been updated to clarify opportunities and remove outdated content.
