In the first quarter of 2026, Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBE-N) has continued to make great strides in building the team which will deliver the UK’s first SMRs.
This is part of intense commercial activity to scope, procure and award multi-million-pound contracts for the nuclear supply chain, including:
The combined value of these contracts is up to £353.65m.
GBE-N will also be signing contracts with its preferred technology provider, Rolls-Royce SMR, in due course.
Marking this moment, GBE-N Chief Executive, Simon Roddy, said:
“Our mission is clear, to deliver new nuclear in the UK at pace. We’re determined to realise the full potential of the nuclear programme, and the evidence over the past three months alone shows that we’re making tangible progress.”
Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBE-N) is the government delivery body dedicated to supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear technologies in the UK. As an arm’s length body of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, GBE-N helps ensure long term energy security, supports net zero targets and promotes investment and innovation across the nuclear sector.
