National webinar series connects Armed Forces community with health and social care careers

Veterans, reservists, Service leavers and military family members are invited to a three-part webinar series showcasing accessible career routes across health and social care.

Taking place from 20 to 22 October 2026, Pathways into Health and Social Care, hosted by the Forces Employment Charity, will connect the Armed Forces community with forces-friendly employers in the NHS, social care, and pharmaceutical and healthcare support sectors.

A letter from Scotty’s founder and chief executive

Nikki Scott and Stuart Robinson have written a letter explaining the future of Scotty’s, taking effect immediately.

Scotty’s, The Military Bereavement Charity, the charity supporting children bereaved by military deaths, is expanding its support to include adults affected by military-connected bereavement, including parents, spouses, partners, siblings and adult children. Support for children and young people will continue unchanged.

LGBT veterans have 100 days left to apply for financial recognition

  • LGBT veterans can apply for restorative measures, including financial recognition payments of up to £70,000
  • non-financial recognition available includes an official letter of apology, replacement service items and a restoration ceremony
  • nearly £60m has been paid to over 1,800 veterans so far, but more may be eligible
  • Veterans discharged or impacted by the ban on LGBT personnel in the armed forces have 100 days left to apply for the government’s restorative measures.

    The measures were introduced following an independent review on the impact of the ban on LGBT personnel serving in the UK Armed Forces between 1967 and 2000.
