Book and plan your visit to Norwich prison

  • have the required ID with you when you go
  • At least one visitor must be 18 or older at every visit. Prisoners can have up to 3 visitors over the age of 10 at one time, plus any younger children.

    There may be a limit to the number of visits a prisoner can have. You can check this with Norwich prison.

    If you get certain benefits or have an NHS health certificate, you might be able to get help with the costs of your visit, including:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9:30am to midday and 1:30pm to 3:30pm
  • Friday, 9:30am to midday and 1:30pm to 3pm
  • Visits must be booked by 11:30am on a Friday for weekend visits.

    Visits schedule for the reception site: A, B, C, E, K, and Ketts:

  • Tuesday, 10am to 11:30am (A, K, and Ketts) and 2pm to 3:30pm (E and Ketts)
  • Wednesday, 2pm to 3:30pm (B and A wings)
  • Thursday, 10am to 11:30am (A, C and M and Ketts wings)
  • Saturday, 10am to 11:30am (E, L, HCC and Ketts) and 2pm to 3:30pm (A, K and Ketts)
  • Sunday, 10am to 11:30am (A and B and Ketts) and 2pm to 3:30pm (A, C, M and Ketts)
  • Visits schedule for the Cat C site: F, G, Healthcare and L wing:

  • Saturday: HCC and L wing 10am to 11:30am
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10am to 11:30am
  • Saturday and Sunday 10:00am to 11:30am, 2pm to 3:30pm and 3:30pm to 5pm

    Phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 10am to midday and 2pm to 3:30pm.

    HMP Norwich is situated on the eastern outskirts of Norwich, in Norfolk.

    Bus numbers 23 or 24 from City Centre or the train Station go past HMP Norwich. Ask for Knox Road (or simply ask for the prison).

    Take a train to Norwich Station (London services are via Liverpool Street). From Norwich Station it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the prison. At the main junction outside the station follow Riverside Road (Keep River on your left).
