Quarterly life insurance performance statistics

APRA publishes statistics on the performance of the life insurance industry on a quarterly basis. These statistics contain industry aggregate summaries of financial performance and position, capital adequacy, as well as details on the performance of individual product groups.

Quarterly life insurance performance statistics

The performance statistics contain data relating to the financial performance and position at an industry aggregate level. Statistics are also provided at a product group level and includes a split between ordinary and superannuation business.

This publication was reissued on 20 March 2026 to incorporate material revisions from insurers.

The database presents the performance statistics data in a database format.

The content in this publication has been updated to reflect the new reporting framework for insurance with effect from 1 July 2023. Users should interpret the data together with the latest Reporting Standards and are encouraged to check data point definitions as outlined in the publication specification available above. Archived versions of the quarterly LI performance statistics from June 2008 to June 2023 are available below. The data is collected on a different basis to the new data and cannot be used as a direct comparison.
