Potential designation of Aldi and Lidl under the Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010

7 August 2026: The CMA has published its provisional decisions report regarding the potential designation of Aldi and Lidl under the Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010. The report sets out the CMA’s provisional decision to designate each of Aldi Stores Limited, Lidl Great Britain Limited and Lidl Northern Ireland Limited as Large Grocery Retailers under the Order.

The CMA is inviting views on its provisional decisions. Views should be submitted by 5pm on Monday 7 September 2026. Please submit your views by email to: [email protected]

5 May 2026: The CMA published responses to its invitation to comment on the potential designation of Aldi and Lidl under the Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010.

12 March 2026: The CMA opened an invitation to comment, which closed at 5pm on 13 April 2026.

12 March 2026: The CMA sought views on whether Aldi and/or Lidl meet the criteria to be designated as a Large Grocery Retailer under the Groceries Market Investigation (Controlled Land) Order 2010.
