Guidance: Abstraction outside the authorised period for filling water storage reservoirs: RPS 382

This regulatory position statement (RPS) does not change your legal requirement to have and comply with an abstraction licence where one is required when you either:

  • abstract water from any source of supply
  • cause or permit any other person to abstract any water

    • However, the Environment Agency will not normally take enforcement action if you do not comply with this legal requirement if you meet the requirements in this RPS.
