Commission decides to refer Bulgaria to the Court of Justice to ensure full transposition of EU electricity market rules

European Commission Press release Brussels, 01 Oct 2026 Today, the European Commission decided to refer Bulgaria (INFR(2021)0015) to the Court of Justice of the European Union for failing to transpose into national legislation Directive (EU) 2019/944 on common rules for the internal market for electricity, amending Directive 2012/27/EU.
