Prime Minister Michal’s Opening Remarks at the 20th ABCD Conference in Tallinn

Ladies and gentlemen, Twenty years ago, when the first ABCD took place, Europe was a very different place. The European Union and NATO had just completed their largest round of enlargement. NATO’s focus was on Afghanistan and Iraq. The idea of a conventional war in Europe seemed almost impossible. Back then, when we talked about security, we meant cooperation and preventing wars. Today, the title of this conference includes a word we had almost forgotten in Europe: win.
