Customs officers seize truck carrying 9 million illicit cigarettes in Pärnu County

On 7 August, investigators from the Estonian Tax and Customs Board (ETCB) stopped a Lithuanian-registered truck in Pärnu County and discovered 9 million cigarettes without Estonian excise stamps hidden in its cargo. Following a plea agreement, the court sentenced the driver to two and a half years’ imprisonment, with one month to be served immediately.
