Announcement

The Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, has commended the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA) for its continued efforts to educate the public about insurance.

Hon. Nakadama made the remarks while visiting the IRA exhibition stall during the National Cooperative Conference organised by the Uganda Cooperative Alliance, an umbrella body bringing together cooperatives from across the country. The conference was held at Makerere University Business School on September 22, 2026.

The Authority participated in the conference as part of its broader mandate to promote insurance awareness and undertake public education on the insurance sector. Public education is one of IRA’s statutory functions and remains central to efforts aimed at improving understanding of insurance and encouraging more individuals and businesses to use insurance as a risk-management tool.

During the conference, IRA staff members engaged participants at the Authority’s exhibition stall, and responded to questions on insurance products, policyholder rights and the role insurance can play in protecting livelihoods, businesses and investments.
