EPA Builds Prosecution Capacity of Compliance Officers Through Legal Enforcement Training

The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, on September 25, 2026, paid her first working visit to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), where she engaged the Authority’s leadership on operational progress and strategic priorities under the Ministry.

The visit provided an opportunity for the Executive Management of the Authority to brief the Minister on the EPA’s strategic mandate, operational progress, key environmental initiatives, and current regulatory challenges.

Addressing management and staff, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings commended the EPA for its efforts in fulfilling its wide-ranging responsibilities in environmental monitoring, permitting, regulation, and protection across the country.

“You have a huge duty, your mandate is huge and sometimes I wonder whether perhaps it isn’t a bit of a stretch expecting one authority to do all that you are doing, but so far you seem to be managing the weight quite well,” she stated.

However, the Minister charged the Authority to intensify its efforts in compliance, legal enforcement, and public disclosure to build lasting public confidence.

She emphasized the importance of establishing accessible digital and public systems that allow citizens to easily retrieve information regarding ongoing regulatory activities, institutional achievements, and operational hurdles.

“I urge you to ensure greater transparency and accountability to the public. The public must know what you are doing. That helps to build trust, it helps to take away in people’s minds the idea that you apply the laws differently to different people or favor some over others,” Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized.
