Minister Multala to visit Germany to discuss hydrogen economy and energy security

Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala will visit Munich on 5–6 October 2026. The purpose of the visit is to promote cooperation between Finland and Germany in the energy sector. Multala will also discuss topical energy issues with representatives of the state of Bavaria.

On 5 October, Minister Multala will open the German-Finnish Hydrogen Dialogue, which aims to strengthen cooperation between Finland and Germany on new hydrogen projects, investments and business collaboration. The event will be attended by policy-makers, companies, research organisations and clusters from both countries.

“Finland and Germany have different strengths that complement each other within the European hydrogen economy. Finland boasts good availability of clean electricity and a competitive environment for production, while Germany offers top technological skills and industrial demand for the hydrogen market. Together we can build a hydrogen value chain that is genuinely European,” says Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.

She will attend the annual Deutsch-Finnisches Businessforum, which this year will be held in Munich on 6 October. Europe’s competitiveness, energy security and digital sovereignty increasingly rely on resilient infrastructure. The event brings together business leaders, researchers and decision-makers to intensify Finnish-German cooperation and to promote investments in energy, digitalisation and infrastructure in order to boost European growth, resilience and strategic autonomy.

“More and more, Europe’s competitiveness rests on clean energy, resilient infrastructure and investment certainty. It is in these areas that cooperation between Finland and Germany has a lot to offer,” Multala says.
