Minister Puisto to visit China

Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will visit China, travelling to Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen from 5 to 11 September 2026. A Finnish business delegation will accompany him at the CIFIT investment and trade fair in Xiamen and in Shanghai. The visit aims to support the operating conditions of Finnish companies in trade and investment with China.

“The accompanying business delegation is exceptionally large. Finnish companies offer competitive solutions that promote, for example, more efficient and smarter industry, the circular economy, the clean transition and the health sector,” Minister Puisto says.

The Minister will meet China’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and representatives of other key Chinese authorities, such as the Customs Administration, in Beijing. In addition to commercial and economic cooperation, the challenges related to China’s business environment will be on the agenda. Finland will also strive to find a solution to resume exports of pork to China from areas not affected by the African swine fever.

Minister Puisto will open the CIFIT investment and trade fair in Xiamen, where Finland will participate with its own national pavilion. The programme also includes meetings with the leadership of Fujian and Guangdong provinces, focusing on economic and trade cooperation between Finland and the provinces. The Minister will also deliver remarks at a side event on, among other topics, cooperation in the circular economy.

In Shanghai, the Minister will attend a seminar for the business delegation and the member companies of FinnCham Shanghai and meet the city’s management. He will also give a lecture at Tongji University. The visit offers an opportunity to support the business conditions of Finnish companies in the Shanghai area where most of them are located.
