New FSMA tools to combat online investment fraud deliver encouraging results
The system for blocking access to fraudulent websites has already prevented 80,000 potential victims of online investment fraud. Moreover, the system gives the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) has extra effectiveness in combatting this fraud: thanks to its status as a ‘trusted flagger’, the FSMA has a ‘fast lane’ to take on fraudulent advertisements via social media platforms. In the first half of 2026, there were encouraging results in the fight against online investment fraud, with a significant decrease in reports of losses to such schemes.This press release is not available in English.
