Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) PRESS RELEASE                                   Release Date: September 22, 2026 Average Rate on New Loans of  Five Major Banks (August 2026) For the month of August 2026, the weighted average interest rate on new loans extended by the five major domestic banks (Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, and Land Bank of Taiwan) increased by 0.020 percentage points from 2.167% in the previous month to 2.187%. This was because while interest rates on capital expenditure loans declined, those on all other loan categories increased. As the five major domestic banks extended no new loans to the Treasury in August, the rate excluding Treasury borrowings remained at 2.187%, up by 0.020 percentage points from 2.167% in the previous month.   Note: The next Average Rate on New Loans of Five Major Banks (September 2026) is scheduled for release at 16:20 on October 22, 2026.
