21 kilometers in open water: the historical result of Zhannat Katarbayeva on Balkhash
Zhannat Katarbayeva, a lawyer at Digital Silk Road Company LLP, a subordinate organization of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, became the first Kazakh woman to overcome 21 kilometers in the open water of Lake Balkhash. She swam the distance non-stop as part of the OCEANMAN international competitions. The swim took place in difficult weather conditions: the wind speed reached 28 km/h, strong waves rose on the lake. Of the 12 participants, nine finished. Zhannat, 46, is a native of Zhanaozen and the mother of two daughters. She has been swimming for six years under the guidance of coach Dmitry Derevyanko. Previously, the athlete overcame distances of 8 and 10 kilometers in Kazakhstan, as well as 14 kilometers on Lake Horta in Italy. Zhannat's achievement is an example of determination, discipline and strength of character. The Ministry of Finance congratulates her on the historic result and wishes her new sports victories!
