Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates intend to jointly develop a project for a new Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan (CASA) railway route with access to Pakistan's seaports. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation within the framework of the CASA railway project. The CASA project envisages the development of a new railway line that will ensure transport connectivity between Central and South Asia and create additional opportunities for the development of international transportation, trade, logistics, and investment cooperation. As part of the Memorandum, the parties intend to conduct technical and economic studies, analytical assessments, and study the feasibility of developing the necessary railway infrastructure and related facilities.
