IMF Staff Team Concludes Visit to Sri Lanka
An International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission team led by Mr. Evan Papageorgiou visited Sri Lanka from 10 to 23 September 2026 to discuss the recent macroeconomic developments and progress in implementing economic and financial policies under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement, and the policy recommendations in the context of the 2026 Article IV Consultation. At the end of the mission, the IMF issued the following press release on 23 September 2026, which can be accessed from the link below. End-of-Mission press releases include statements of IMF staff teams that convey preliminary findings after a visit to a country. The views expressed in this statement are those of the IMF staff and do not necessarily represent the views of the IMF’s Executive Board. This mission will not result in a Board discussion. IMF staff and the Sri Lankan authorities held productive discussions relating to the Seventh Review of the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF), and the 2026 Article IV Consultation.
