Pharmac introduces a new vision and strategic priorities

It has been a significant 12 months. We have taken the time to listen to patients, partners, and each other, to shape a new vision for Pharmac: Healthier futures. With you. For you.

Alongside this, we have also refreshed our strategic priorities, giving us a clearer and more consistent direction for the future.

Director Strategy, Policy and Performance, Michael Johnson, says these conversations have helped shape Pharmac’s vision and how we will approach decision-making, to ensure they reflect real experiences and needs across the health system.

“We know that trust and partnership is key to delivering the best possible outcomes for people. That’s why we consulted widely before landing on our new vision.”

The vision Healthier Futures. With you. For you | He rongoā pai, He ahu pae ora is supported by four strategic priorities: informed choices, timely access, wise investments and delivery excellence., 

These priorities focus on using patient and stakeholder insights to guide our decisions, improving access to medicines and health technologies, and making sure our investments deliver meaningful value. They also emphasise timely and transparent decision-making and a continued commitment to operational excellence.

“We’re focused on improving access, reducing barriers, and making sure people get the treatments that will have the greatest impact on their health and wellbeing,” says Johnson.

“Together, these priorities will shape how we work and make decisions, helping us deliver more consistent, transparent, and patient-focused decisions for New Zealanders.”
