Announcement

SPC 0730Z Day 3 Outlook Day 3 Convective Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0149 AM CDT Sun Oct 04 2026 Valid 061200Z - 071200Z ...NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AREAS FORECAST... ...SUMMARY... Severe storms are unlikely on Tuesday. ...Synopsis... A deep upper trough will quickly move out of eastern Quebec and New England on Tuesday, with a secondary lower-amplitude trough diving southeast across Ontario and Upper Great Lakes. This northwest flow regime will generally maintain high pressure over much of the central and eastern CONUS, with northeast surface winds near the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts. As such, available moisture and instability will remain largely offshore, except over FL where afternoon thunderstorms are possible. Severe storms are unlikely due to the weak shear/lapse rate environment. Elsewhere, scattered showers and thunderstorms may affect the eastern Great Basin into western CO, as a weak midlevel wave moves over the area with cool temperatures aloft. Severe storms are unlikely given weak instability and shear. ..Jewell.. 10/04/2026 Read more
