Announcement

Welcome to the 20th edition of the EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation newsletter! Following the summer break, this issue brings together a comprehensive overview of our dynamic autumn programme, returning activities and expert insights from across the European prevention landscape.

This edition opens with a recap of the Hub’s autumn activities. We detail our latest initiatives, including a series of specialised trainings covering online antisemitism, OSINT tools, advanced case handling and early warning protocols in the MENA region. We also highlight the final round of Thematic Panel meetings, like TP2's session on youth rehabilitation in detention, the Strategic Communications exercise on hybrid threats, and the announcement of our upcoming Policy Practice Joint Event (PPJE) on Misogyny and Radicalisation.

Our expert contribution features a wide range of perspectives. In the Portrait interview, Annelies Pauwels discusses bridging research, policy and practice, addressing online radicalisation, firearms acquisition and why prevention must focus on warning signs of escalating violence rather than rigid ideological labels. Additionally, Jeppe Fuglsang Larsen examines "community-creating didactics" in Danish schools to support neurodivergent youth (ASD).

From our Young Mentees' perspective, Shams Jouve explores the dual role of martial arts, proposing a narrative shift from extremist recruitment towards positive tools for emotional management and social reintegration. In field practice, we showcase the Horizon Europe VORTEX project coordinated by Malmö University, which bridges security and social perspectives to train the next generation of PCVE researchers.
