Press release

Congratulations on your 25th anniversary!

IFOAM Organics Europe and all its members have so much to be proud of. Organic farming is thriving across Europe – with almost 400,000 farmers producing organic food across the EU. And the future looks bright!

You have played a central role in shaping European policies. Organic farming is now a flagship of our Common Agricultural Policy. And our review of the Organic Action Plan will also help the sector grow and find new markets – at home and abroad.

With important decisions ahead, organic farming will continue to play a crucial role. Not only in European agriculture, but also in strengthening Europe's resilience. By reducing our import dependence. By protecting our soil and improving animal welfare with innovative methods. And by strengthening rural communities and local value chains.

More and more young farmers are embracing new methods, bringing fresh ideas and generational renewal to our rural areas. And this year, we saw how organic farms proved more resilient during extreme heatwaves.

All of this shows why organic farming is so important to Europe's agricultural future. I look forward to many more years of partnership with IFOAM Organics Europe.
