Finnish and United States defence administrations to extend their research and development agreement
The Finnish Government proposes that the agreement between Finland and the United States on research, development, testing and evaluation projects be extended until 2032.
The agreement defines the general terms and conditions for initiating, conducting and managing research, development, testing and evaluation projects between the defence administrations of Finland and the United States.
The agreement enables the Finnish and US defence administrations to make the best use of their respective research and technology development capacities and eliminates unnecessary duplication of work. It creates opportunities for joint defence materiel procurements, improves the cost-effectiveness of both research and technology development and procurements and strengthens Finland’s technological competence. It also encourages interoperability, promotes the export opportunities of Finnish companies and creates new or improved military capabilities.
