An overview of the 32nd meeting of the Technology Review Committee for the Supervision and Management of National Information Systems

By formulating basic policies for the development and management of national information systems and by promoting their standardization and integration, we will enable efficient system development and information coordination that includes private sector information systems. At the same time, we will advance reform of administrative services and reform of business systems in an integrated manner from the users' perspective.

Digital Agency formulates the basic policies for the development and management of information systems for the national government, local governments, quasi-public sector, etc. In particular, national information systems have been reclassified into the following categories: (1) Digital Agency systems, (2) systems for joint projects between Digital Agency and various ministries and agencies, and (3) systems of various ministries and agencies. It supervises and controls projects related to these systems, and ensures mutual coordination by standardizing and integrating information systems, while examining whether they comply with the basic policies.

In addition, the budgets will be allocated to Digital Agency in a lump sum, which will then be allocated to each ministry for execution. This will enable strategic investments in line with the overall policies of the Japanese government. In particular, (1) the Digital Agency system will serve as a common infrastructure for each ministry, and Digital Agency will develop and operate it on its own.
