Statistics at DWP
We publish Official and Accredited Statistics on a regular basis. They provide accurate and impartial information about Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits and related subjects.
Find details of developments coming to our statistics in our statistical work programme.
We also publish ad hoc statistics. These are published in response to specific questions and are not part of our regular Official and Accredited Statistics publications.
Management information and ad hoc analyses
We also publish management information and ad hoc analyses that are not classified as statistics (or research). These are published in the interests of transparency and are not part of our regular Official and Accredited Statistics publications.
To ensure transparency we continue to make discontinued DWP statistics available on GOV.UK.
As well as statistics, we also publish research and analysis.
The Evidence and Evaluation Strategy sets out the department’s strategy for evidence and evaluation from 2025. It summarises how we generate and use evidence, what evidence we have, and how our evidence will drive delivery of our departmental priorities.
DWP benefit expenditure and caseload tables
Our benefit expenditure and caseload tables provide historic and forecast expenditure and caseload information.
Freedom of Information requests related to statistics
Explore DWP data in more depth using our data analysis tools.
Stat-Xplore is an online tool that holds information on DWP official statistics and allows the creation and download of customised statistical tables, as well as data visualisation through interactive charts. User guides are available at DWP benefit statistics tools.
Due to increasing demand from users, DWP is making improvements to the published geography information in its Official and Accredited Official statistics releases. This includes data released on Stat-Xplore. Read our DWP statistical geographies note for more information about the changes.
