SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Dominican authorities extradited Patricia Joanna Almonte-Frías and her partner Rineldys Feliciano Díaz-Cuevas to the United States to face cyberstalking and sextortion conspiracy charges filed in the District of Puerto Rico, announced Héctor Ramírez-Carbó, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico. The defendants were arrested in the Dominican Republic on August 19, 2026, at the request of the United States, and extradited to Puerto Rico on September 30, 2026.

According to court documents, Patricia Joanna Almonte-Frías and Rineldys Feliciano Díaz-Cuevas operated an international, financially motivated “sextortion” scheme that conspired to engage in, and did engage in, cyberstalking and intestate threats.

The defendants, operating from the Dominican Republic, identified and sextorted victims using Facebook, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms. Almonte-Frías used her image to encourage victims in Puerto Rico to share online sexually explicit photos and videos (which were secretly recorded). Subsequently, defendant Díaz-Cuevas and other co-conspirators then extorted victims to send money under threat of exposing the compromising images to the victims’ family and friends. In some instances, the defendants created photo collages by combining the victim’s sexually explicit images with images of minors, thereby giving the false impression that victims were involved in sexual relationships with minors.

On multiple occasions, the victims paid the demanded amounts, emptied their accounts, and the defendants still carried out the threats and distributed the victims’ sexual images to the victims’ online network of friends and family members.
