Sanctions Classified by Officially
From 5–9 October 2026, the Western Balkans Criminal Justice (WBCJ) Project at Eurojust, in cooperation with the TOPCOP and EU4FAST projects, supported the participation of prosecutors and judges from the Western Balkans in a training on financial investigations and asset recovery held at the French School of the Magistrate in Paris.
The training, co-led by a French magistrate and an investigative journalist specialising in financial crime, brought together practitioners from the Western Balkans, Moldova and Ukraine to strengthen their practical knowledge of financial investigations, asset tracing and recovery, and international judicial cooperation in cases involving organised crime, corruption and other serious criminal offences.
Through expert presentations, case studies, practical exercises and exchanges among practitioners, participants explored a wide range of topics, including financial intelligence and its judicial use, specialised investigative techniques, digital evidence, money laundering, the identification and seizure of criminal assets, crypto-assets and international cooperation for freezing and confiscating proceeds of crime.
