Bern, 12.10.2026 — As part of EU Cyber Week, European cybersecurity directors met in Dublin on 8 October to discuss current challenges in cyberspace. The focus was on the use of AI in cybersecurity. NCSC Director Florian Schütz took part in a panel discussion on digital sovereignty and supply chain resilience. Mr Schutz will be continuing his international engagements this week at Singapore International Cyber Week, where he will be exploring issues relating to the security of autonomous AI systems.

On 8 October the directors of the European cybersecurity agencies met on the fringes of EU Cyber Week for their regular exchange of views. One key issue during the gathering was the use of advanced AI models in cybersecurity. In particular, discussions focused on the growing potential of AI in vulnerability detection and large-scale code analysis, as well as the associated issues of human oversight and operational risk in relation to autonomous AI agents. Other topics included the misuse of AI by criminal and state actors, as well as weighing up the risks and benefits of open AI models. The directors also exchanged views on the EU Action Plan on Cybersecurity and AI, in particular on the issue of structured access to frontier AI models and the role of national authorities in its implementation.
