FSANZ Board Communique: 6 October 2026 Extraordinary Meeting sasha.tait Tue, 06/10/2026 - 11:33 Published 13 October 2026 Overview The Food Standards Australia New Zealand Board held an extraordinary Board meeting on 6 October 2026 to discuss standards matters. The FSANZ Board is the accountable authority for the agency. Standards Matters for Decision The Board approved Application A1341 to permit cell-cultured duck biomass to be used as a food ingredient. The biomass is produced from cells derived from Pekin duck and is intended to be combined with other ingredients in products such as ‘cell-cultured foie gras’ and ‘cell-cultured duck pâté’. In reaching its decision, the Board considered FSANZ’s scientific and technical assessment and feedback received through public consultation. The Board was satisfied that the available scientific evidence supports the safety of the approved food at the assessed levels of consumption. The approval includes conditions to support food safety, regulatory compliance and informed consumer choice. The Board's next meeting will be held on 28 October 2026 Page last updated: 13 October 2026
