Berne, 14.10.2026 — During its meeting on 14 October 2026, the Federal Council was informed about the third national report on the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing. Switzerland's risk exposure in this area remains stable. The greatest threats stem from organised crime, corruption, and property and tax crime.

The third report by the interdepartmental coordinating group on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism (CGMF) shows that the risks in the areas of money laundering and terrorist financing have not changed significantly. However, they have been influenced by technological progress, geopolitical changes and regulatory developments.

Switzerland is also a target for criminals due to its internationally significant and interconnected financial centre. The threats arise primarily in connection with predicate offences relating to organised crime, corruption and property and tax crime. In view of the Swiss financial centre's strong international interconnectedness, these threats often also have an international dimension. The risk of terrorist financing remains comparatively limited at present. The analysis also shows that certain sectors and industries face a particularly high risk of money laundering and terrorist financing. These include, in particular, sectors with high exposure to foreign markets and widespread use of new technologies, as well as sectors that have only recently been subject to regulation.
