UKAP guidance update for healthcare workers living with HIV
Safety Classified by Officially
The UK Advisory Panel for Healthcare Workers Living with Bloodborne Viruses (UKAP) gives advice and guidance to organisations and individuals responsible for the clearance and management of healthcare workers (HCWs) living with HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. The UKAP integrated guidance outlines the clearance and monitoring requirements for HCW who perform exposure prone procedures.
UKAP is updating the guidance for HCWs living with HIV. The proposed changes are outlined in the consultation document and will replace the sections on management of HCWs living with HIV in the UKAP integrated guidance. Therefore, the consultation document should be read in conjunction with the UKAP integrated guidance for context.
UKAP is seeking responses to the proposed changes, specifically:
If respondents have gathered input from people with lived or living experience, please make this clear in the consultation response.
UKAP also encourages organisations to share the consultation with other organisations in their network who may be interested in this guidance update.
