We thank the United States and Panama for your work as penholders.

The United Kingdom condemns the violence that continues to undermine efforts to restore democratic rule and stability in Haiti.

The UN sanctions regime and arms embargo remain essential tools to address insecurity in Haiti and to alleviate the suffering of the Haitian people.

We should take action to implement this regime and to embrace the recommendations of the panel of experts.

We welcome the Council’s focus on the misappropriation and diversion of public resources, and remain deeply concerned by widespread sexual and gender-based violence in Haiti.
