Finland submits Draft Budgetary Plan to European Union

Finland’s Draft Budgetary Plan for 2027 is based on the Government’s budget proposal.

Each autumn, euro area countries submit their Draft Budgetary Plans (DBPs) for the next year to the EU. The DBP should identify any deviations from the net expenditure path approved by the Council of the European Union.  The Council approved Finland’s medium-term plan and the net expenditure path included in it in January 2025. In January 2026, the Council established the existence of an excessive deficit in Finland and issued a recommendation on correcting it.

Finland’s 2027 Draft Budgetary Plan also reports on the measures that Finland has taken and is planning to take to correct the excessive deficit.

The Government approved Finland’s Draft Budgetary Plan on Thursday 15 October, and the Ministry of Finance will submit the plan to the EU.

Next, the European Commission will assess the plan and publish its assessment in November. The Eurogroup will issue a statement on the DBPs of the euro area countries in December.
