Imported from official source

As an accreditation body you may accredit verifiers for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), providing you meet the eligibility requirements.

Accreditation bodies — eligibility and responsibilities

To be eligible to accredit verifiers for CBAM you must:

  • comply with ISO/IEC 17011 (Conformity assessment — Requirements for accreditation bodies accrediting conformity assessment bodies) — read more information on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) website
  • You must also be peer evaluated for your ability to accredit verifiers to the following ISO standards:

You may accredit verifiers based in the same country as you. You may also accredit verifiers based in another country if the country the verifier is based in either:

  • does not have an eligible accreditation body
  • has an eligible accreditation body that does not accredit verifiers for CBAM
  • When accrediting verifiers for CBAM, you must assess their:

  • understanding of and compliance with ISO/IEC 17029 and ISO 14065
  • ability to comply with CBAM requirements
  • Read about what you need to do when accrediting verifiers and monitoring their compliance with CBAM requirements in the technical guidance.
