New VMDS features to improve company responses and application tracking

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has introduced new features to the VMDS, providing a clearer route for company responses and greater visibility of application progress.

A new Company Response route in VMDS gives applicants a single, consistent way to respond to validation questions, Lists of Questions (LOQs) and UK Public Assessment Report (UKPAR) comments.

Applicants can submit responses directly against the relevant application, with supporting documents linked and visible alongside related submissions. This provides a clearer audit trail of information submitted to VMD and ensures the correct documents are linked to the relevant application.

Automated workflows also support faster and more consistent processing, while giving applicants confirmation that their responses have been submitted.

Greater visibility of application progress

Enhancements to the VMDS dashboard give applicants more information about the progress and status of their applications. This includes:

  • company responses and other related submissions linked to the associated application
  • key expected dates, including anticipated question dates and applicant response deadlines
  • the final Marketing Authorisation status
  • Together, these changes help applicants plan their activities, monitor applications more easily and understand the status of their products. They also reduce the need to contact VMD for application status updates.
